A pay out of €70k for businesses who sustained damages in the Storm Babet floods could be made available, according to the Irish Examiner.
Businesses affected by flash flooding have received some hope this week, ahead of further orange and yellow rain warnings.
Proposals are to go to Cabinet today. It proposes that businesses could claim back up to €70,000 in damages. It is reported that senior Government members, such as the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Trade Minister Simon Coveney.
Approximately 100 businesses in the Waterford and Cork areas worst affected could recieve this payment, facilitated by the Red Cross. This new flood relief scheme will run in conjunction with the one which is currently in place. The current scheme offers payouts between €5,000 and €20,000.
There are also talks about an additional grant to help towns affected by Storm Babet, such as Midleton. This would be made available as well as the €70,000 for businesses which Storm Babet damaged.
An orange warning has been put in place for Waterford, Wexford and Kilkenny. A status yellow for Tipperary, will remain in place until 4am tomorrow morning.
