A status yellow rain warning is currently in place for the entire country, until midnight.
Met Eireann meteorologist Mathew Martin says "We're expecting 20 to 30 mm of rain, that'll be falling on top of already saturated surfaces and swollen rivers"
He added that travel could be hit "In local areas where we see the heaviest of downpours we can expect some flooding on roads and potentially some disruption on travel"
It comes after a status yellow warning was issued for some of these counties less than a week ago. It included counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford, Wicklow and Waterford.
