A government agency is examining reports of an antigen test brand that is said to be generating 'false positive' results.
The Genrui-branded antigen test kit is primarily sold in Dunnes Stores and Lidl outlets across Ireland.
The move follows a number of social media posts in recent days in which people reported to have had a positive Covid result from their Genrui antigen kit only to have a negative follow-up PCR.
Received 100s of messages through my Insta about Genrui antigen tests.
When pcr was available there seemed to have been lots of false positives with these kits.
This could have major implications for people now with no pcr available.
Have you had any issues with them? pic.twitter.com/hmMgGz8hFp

The Health Products Regulatory Agency has announced it is following up with the manufacturer of the test to investigate the matter further.
The HPRC says it will also liaise with other European competent authorities in relation to the issue.
