South East towns to receive fastest internet speeds in Ireland

We'll find out today what towns in the South East will be the first recipients of the fastest broadband speeds in the country.

Eir will be announcing the locations of the first 100,000 homes that can avail of speeds of up to 1000 megabytes per second.

Over 200 towns in every county will be initially included, with the heaviest concentration in Wexford, Galway, Donegal, Meath and Louth.

Eir is targeting fibre powered broaband in nearly 2 million homes by 2020.
