Some 650 people are due to receive their Irish citizenship at a ceremony in Waterford IT later this morning.
Minister of State John Halligan will represent the Government at the event.
Ireland's newest citizens come from over 50 countries, with the largest number from Poland, closely followed by the United Kingdom.
Romania, India and Nigeria feature in the top 5.
Of the 667 people invited to attend 54 per cent are female while are 46 per cent are male.
This morning's ceremony is smaller than usual, and is being held in Waterford to coincide with the annual celebration of the first hoisting of the Irish tricolour by Thomas Francis Meagher in Waterford in 1848.
Since citizenship ceremonies were first introduced 8 years ago there has been a total of 141 ceremonies with people from over 180 countries receiving their certificates of naturalisation.
To date approximately 120,000 people have received Irish citizenship.
