Around 20 thousand people turned out to watch Kilkenny-woman Vicky Phelan turn on the Christmas lights in Limerick city last night.
The cervical cancer campaigner and her family were joined by Elsa and Olaf from Frozen to start the festivities on O'Connell Street.
Vicky Phelan told reporters that this time last year, she didn't think she'd see another Christmas.
Wow 😯 I knew there were thousands, but 20,000!!! When I got up on stage, I was trying to see where the crowds ended but could not see any end to the people gathered. It was phenomenal. Well done to all involved 👏👏👏 https://t.co/9fJSAxyUub
