Met Eireann has warned of hazardous conditions with showers of snow, hail and sleet expected.
Speaking to Beat News, Carlow County Council's Road Safety Officer John McDarby says people should postpone car journeys if the weather is bad in their area:
"The dangers are icy surfaces, and then if you're out in the snow, the poor visibility.
"If you can postpone your journey until local authorities have had a chance to get out and clear the roads, it's a really good idea to postpone your journeys."
