The largest ever gathering of Social Media Professionals in Ireland will convene in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium for the two-day Social Media Summit on 1st and 2nd March, 2016 (www.socialmediasummit.ie). Created by Samantha Kelly, TEDx speaker and Ireland’s own tweeting goddess (@tweetingGoddess) and Tom Williams of Platinum Events (@PlatinumTomIE) and supported by International Relations in Dublin City Council, the event will be an important global gathering of key influencers, leaders, investors and creators within the global social media community.

Launched by An tArdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh at Dublin’s Mansion House, the event will provide valuable support for new and emerging businesses in the field of social media in Ireland - from start-ups to global brands - by focusing on Social Media priorities, learning, best practice and future strategy planning with some of the world’s leading experts.

The Summit’s keynote speaker is internationally renowned Social media Strategist Ted Rubin #13 on Forbes Top 50 Social Media Power Influencers. Other internationally renowned speakers include Ian Cleary, founder of RazorSocial and one of the top 50 content marketers and social media professionals; Melonie Dodaro, author of the #1 international bestseller The LinkedIn Code; Robert C Stern, The Social Leader. Blab Periscope Helping businesses & individuals grow with the use of Social Media; Brian Fanzo, recently awarded one the ‘Top 25 Social Business Leaders’ by IBM; Jenny Brennan, whose boutique Social Media agency in Mayo coaches business clients on how to leverage the Facebook social network and to connect with customers in a meaningful way that lead to long-term and profitable relationships and many more.

Companies that integrate social media data into their business strategies are better able to position themselves to thrive in an increasingly competitive and technologically sophisticated market and whether the focus is Social Media, Marketing, Digital or Communications, the summit will help decision makers and marketers to stay ahead of the curve by shaping the role and future strategy for social media in their organisations.

Speaking at the event’s launch, An tArdmhéara Críona Ní Dhálaigh commented:

“We closed 2015 with lots of talk about the Web Summit leaving Dublin. We open 2016, the year of the Rising, with a determination to support a number of Conferences that can grow like the web summit and strengthen Dublin’s global brand for Innovation and technology leadership. City Council are supporting the Social Media Summit because we believe it can grow in numbers and keep Dublin “centrefield” on this fast growing web-based communications stage. International Conferences which target different parts of the Tech spectrum and are spread throughout the year can be more powerful in terms of economic and brand impact than one single catch-all event.”

Samantha Kelly, Social Media Summit Director and Co Founder said: “Social media as a valuable tool for engaging and enriching lives, through communicating and sharing knowledge with lots of people and very fast in ways that wasn’t possible only a short time ago. The Social Media Summit has been created to help Irish companies to engage more and show them how to use the latest platforms and tools available to them. The noted speakers we have assembled will show how brands and companies can excel through effective use of Social Media to generate strong customer loyalty and advocacy.”

Tom Williams, Social Media Summit Director and Co Founder added: “Social Media is such an important element in business today and we are attracting over 400 delegates from social media teams at companies and organisations from start-ups to global brands and NGOs. As a pioneering ‘Smart city’, Dublin is a leader in this important space for the future of Irish business and we are proud to be hosting this inaugural event in the city that has nurtured us. Unlike other events in this sector, we are very much committed to seeing the Summit grow and stay in the city.”
