SIRO aiming to 'take the pain away' from slow internet connections in the South East

SIRO has announced ambitious plans to target homes across the country, intending to take the pain away from slow connections.

The broadband company is planning a high-speed internet rollout, targeting counties in the South East.

As of yesterday, Tipperary has seen infrastructure become live for connection in over 7000 homes, with homes urged to check their eircode for availability.

Speaking about the rollouts, Chief Commercial Officer, Ronan Whelan, says Gigabit broadband is a necessity for all customers.

"Copper really can go up to about 100 Megabits and it's not for the future, and I think all telecom companies have said that.

"SIRO can go up 25 times, 40 times faster than your copper infrastructures.

"I think for the world that we live in today, those technologies are really, really important.

"Nobody wants to be lagging at home, nobody wants to be on remote calls and streaming for kids.

"Fibre broadband and gigabit broadband take that pain away."

The company pride itself on a new customer joining the network every two minutes, with an above-market first-time installation rate.

As more homes have transitioned into offices, broadband has been a fundamental issue for many rural customers.

Multiple providers work toward gaining a market in less populated areas, with the topic regularly discussed at a government level.

The National broadband rollout was previously set a revised target to deliver broadband to 102,000 premises by January 2023.

Peter Hendrick, chief executive of National Broadband Ireland (NBI), delivered positive news of development in June, stating works were going to plan.
