SIPTU suspends industrial action in Bausch and Lomb dispute

SIPTU members employed by Bausch and Lomb have suspended industrial action scheduled for this weekend at the company’s plant in Waterford to facilitate talks at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) that will begin on Friday (17th June).

SIPTU Sector Organiser, Neil McGowan, said: “At the request of the WRC and in order to allow talks to have the best chance of finding a resolution to this dispute, our members have decided to suspend their campaign of industrial action which was scheduled to resume on Saturday (18th June).”

SIPTU Manufacturing Division Organiser, Greg Ennis, said: “It is regrettable that our members were left with no alternative other than to engage in industrial action in pursuit of their legitimate pay claim.

He continued to say: "Our members in Bausch and Lomb have shown great resolve during this dispute. This has only been possible due to the unflinching support they have received from their families and the wider community in county Waterford.”
