Sinn Féin has passed a motion saying it supports juryless courts in exceptional circumstances.
It's a major change of policy for the party which has consistently opposed the Special Criminal Court.
The court was set up to trial terrorists and gangland figures in circumstances where juries could be threatened or intimidated.
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald says they still oppose the current court, but now accept there is a role for juryless courts in some circumstances:
"Where there's intimidation of juries or the risk of jury tampering and others.
We look forward to that and we look forward to the kind of provisions that we need to ensure that we have an efficient, effective, human rights compliance system.
The type of change that was envisaged as far back as the Good Friday Agreement; we're simply completing that journey."
