Sinn Fein is calling for a full inquiry into the state's handling of Covid.
It's after the Business Post received new leaked recordings showing over-spending by the HSE on PPE.
It's revealed the HSE decided to spend 770 million euros on Personal Protective Equipment, even though it was only allowed to spend 205 million euros.
Sinn Fein Health Spokesman and Waterford TD David Cullinane says, it was hard for the health authority to judge how much to spend during the pandemic.
'Obviously, Covid was very challenging for everybody including the HSE. There was a scramble to get PPE and we had to source it from where we could when we could- but there are issues around transparency.'
'That's why we have called for a full enquiry into the States handling of Covid.'
