Gardai in Waterford are seeking witnesses to a serious traffic accident which occurred in the city this afternoon.
A child was taken to University Hospital Waterford following the incident which happened on Merchants Quay at the Gladstone Street roundabout just after 2pm.
The Quay was closed to all inbound traffic for over four hours while a technical examination of the scene was conducted.
The road closure lead to serious traffic congestion across the city for most of Friday afternoon. The road was fully reopened this evening.
