Those living in Barntown, Townparks, Whitemill, Ard Carman, Coolotts, and surrounding areas in Wexford Town are most likely to be affected by supply outages.
A statement on the Uisce Éireann website says: "Every effort is being made to maintain supply to as many customers as possible, however, repairs are complex due to the location of the burst and the wet weather conditions impacting ground conditions. Crews are working on repairs in order to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible."
The works are expected to continue until around 10 pm, and it's expected normal levels will return a few hours later.
Alternative water supply
Clean drinking water is available at Clonard Village, Cluain Dara, Ferndale, Belvedere, Ard Carman, and Clonard Church until the normal water supply returns.
Customers are being encouraged to use their own containers when collecting clean water from the tanker.
They are also being advised to boil water as an extra precaution as per HSE advice.
