The Daft.ie Quarterly Rental Report was released this morning with some very interesting figures on display.
Nationwide, in the year to December 2018, rents rose by 9.8%. It is another record high for rising rents however it is the slowest rise in almost three years.
On average, during the final quarter of 2018 the average monthly rent nationwide was €1,347, €317 per month higher than the 2008 peak and more than €600 higher than the late 2011 low.
Figures for the South East reflected this change.
Waterford:
- In Waterford City, rents have risen by 16% in the last year and the average rent is now €968.
- In the rest of Waterford, rents were on average 15.7% higher in the fourth quarter of 2018 than a year previously.
- The average advertised rent is now €890, up 56% from its lowest point.
Kilkenny:
- In Kilkenny, rents were on average 8.4% higher in the fourth quarter of 2018 than a year previously.
- The average advertised rent is now €931, up 63% from its lowest point.
Carlow:
- In Carlow, rents were on average 9.6% higher in the fourth quarter of 2018 than a year previously.
- The average advertised rent is now €906, up 53% from its lowest point.
Wexford:
- In Wexford, rents were on average 9.7% higher in the fourth quarter of 2018 than a year previously.
- The average advertised rent is now €830, up 53% from its lowest point.
Tipperary:
- In Tipperary, rents were on average 10.2% higher in the fourth quarter of 2018 than a year previously.
- The average advertised rent is now €801, up 42% from its lowest point.
