The Government is considering introducing new "time of day pricing" measures, to help bring down energy bills.
If introduced, it would see the cost of running appliances reduced at certain times - such as late at night or in the middle of traditional working hours.
Earlier this week, Electric Ireland became the latest company to announce a price hike, with bills set to rise by 23.4 per cent.
Consumer journalist Siobhan Maguire says the figures used by electricity companies don't reflect life post-pandemic:
"The average annual bill is supposedly just under €1,200. I have a real issue with these figures because these are almost at pre-pandemic usage and prices.
She continued: "Of course, we've all been working from home so usage is way up and bills are way up as well."
