In the current extreme dry and hot spell Wexford County Council are also asking the public not to light fires of any sort at beaches due to the very high risk of fire and the potential for serious ecological damage to the dunes.

It has been noted that fires have been lighting at Curracloe, Ballinesker and White Gap beaches over the past few evenings.  Due to the high risk of fire spreading at this time, an Garda Siochana will be patrolling these areas  from 9pm tonight (Saturday) and tomorrow night (Sunday) and individuals found to be lighting barbeques or other types of fire will be dealt with in the appropriate manner.
