170 thousand customers are bracing themselves for a major price rise this October.
Prepay Power announced that prices will rise for electricity and gas customers on October 1st.
Electricity users by up to 19 per cent while gas customers will see prices jump by almost 30 per cent.
This will be the third time that energy provider has increased its prices this year.
According to the Irish Examiner, it follows recent rises that took effect on July 1st and April 1st.
It's expected that the latest changes will increase the cost of electricity by an average of €6.50 and gas by €8.20 per week.
In a statement, the company says "were it not for our extensive hedging operations, these increases would have had to be significantly higher."
