Predictive grades to assess Leaving Cert students to be discussed today

The use of predictive grades to assess Leaving Cert students will be discussed at a meeting today.

The state exam is due to start on July 29th, but reports today suggest that they may still be scrapped.

Seamus Lahart, president of the Teachers Union of Ireland, is among the groups attending today's meeting with the department.

The Tipperary-based teacher says health and safety's a major concern:

"We are working to facilitate the exams on the 29th of July, but that is based on the health authorities telling us that it is safe to do so."

"Given that the health authority are only able to extend that advice 3 weeks in the future, we are unsure."
