Met Eireann's yellow snow and ice warning remains in place this afternoon, with more wintry showers expected across parts of the country today.
Road users in the South East urged to take extra care on the roads, while the cold snap is expected to continue until Sunday at least, with temperatures due to fall well below freezing each night.
But, if you're feeling the chill here, spare a thought for Chicago residents who are experiencing temperatures of minus 27 degrees celsius.
Subzero conditions are perishing the State, with temperatures dropping to minus 21 at Chicago's O'Hare Airport, setting a new record. The previous record for the same date in 1985 was minus 12.
