The man who died after being hit by a car in Co. Tipperary has been named locally.

67-year-old John "Toddler" Maher was knocked down on the N24 at Townspark, Carrick-on-Suir at around 7:30pm on Sunday evening.

The man driving the car (42) was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Tipperary University Hospital.

Maher from Treacy Park was a former chairperson at St Molleran's GAA club, where he was still heavily involved.
