The number of alleged perpetrators of sexual assault in Scouting Ireland has risen following a recent review looking into the organisation.
In the initial report last year, it was reported that there were 212 abusers and 317 victims. following revisions, these numbers have changed to 237 abusers and 313 victims according to The Irish Times.
Since late last year the organisation has been trying to deal with the unearthing of sexual assault cases which date back to the 1960s.
Following the breaking of the controversy, a helpline for victims was established, with 175 individuals thus far using it.
Funding for Scouting Ireland was halted by Minister for Children and Youth Affairs Katherine Zappone last year amidst concerns from the government.
The funding has been reinstated since the entire board agreed to step down and be replaced last year.
The Irish Times further estimated that it would cost the organisation €350,000 to instate a sufficiently-staffed safeguarding office to ensure adherence to child-protection standards.
