A number of murder & manslaughter trials could be in jeopardy following concerns over Kilkenny case

A series of murder and manslaughter cases could be placed in jeopardy following concerns over evidence provided by a former assistant state pathologist.

The issue arose following the discharge of a manslaughter case in Kilkenny Circuit Criminal Court by Judge Brian O'Callaghan.

As reported by the Kilkenny People, State Pathologist, Dr Khalid Jaber, is believed to have not peer reviewed his findings in autopsies carried out.

Dr Jaber was previously embroiled in controversy in 2013, when State Pathologist, Marie Cassidy, staged a 'dramatic intervention' over evidence supplied by Dr Jaber in a separate trial - a move that resulted in its collapse.
