No COVID requirements for travellers into Ireland

COVID-19 international travel requirements will no longer be required from tomorrow here.

The Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly today signed regulations ending the requirements for passengers arriving in Ireland to show proof of vaccination, recovery or a negative PCR test.

A statement from the Department of Health says 'with both high levels of vaccine uptake and information on the Omicron variant becoming increasingly available internationally, changes in the management of COVID-19 in Ireland are possible.'

The requirements were introduced in 2020 during the pandemic, while the Passenger Locator Form was introduced later on that year.

Testing and quarantine restrictions were introduced in January of last year.

The Minister says action was taken quickly to remove these travel requirements, so as to decrease any obstacles for people coming from Ukraine to Ireland.
