From today motorists who drive with defective tyres, will now face a fine.
It's already an offence to drive with tyres that are worn, but there will now be a fine of 80 euro, with an additional two penalty points on your licence.
Anyone who is convicted of the offence in court will receive four penalty points.
The new rules come into effect this morning.
