The recruitment process for the new president of SETU is now fully underway.
Recruitment firm Mazars is expecting the successful candidate to possess ‘a clear vision for the development of the University and it’s role in the region.
Speaking to the Waterford News & Star, Fine Gael Senator John Cummins said he expects to hear news regarding the position and the first ordinary members of the new governing body soon, following a large number of applications just before Christmas.
The project that was announced in November of last year hopes combine third-level technological institutes from Waterford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow.
The Wicklow inclusion is proving to be a point of controversy as many including WIT Lecturer Ray Griffin commented on twitter how Wicklow’s inclusion ‘indicates a lack of ambition to give this merger a fighting chance’.
The deadline for the SETU Presidential applications is Monday, March 21st at 12 noon.
