National Ploughing Championship underway

Competitors from 25 countries will take to their ploughs today, as the second day of the annual world championships in County Laois gets underway.

Organisers expect today's crowd to be the largest of the three days, with around 300 thousand people estimated to visit the site this week.

It is the first of its kind in the Republic of Ireland since the pandemic.

The 900 acre site at Ratheniska is playing host to 1, 700 trade stalls, together with machinery displays, livestock and ploughing competitions.
