A driver in Co. Waterford has received a heft penalty for speeding in the county.
While out and about on patrol recently, Waterford Roads Policing Unit were conducting speed checks in the Deise.
Officers noticed a Volkswagon Golf driver travelling well over the speed limit.
Taking to Twitter, Garda Traffic says this motorist was detected doing 158kph in a 100kph zone.
Gardaí stopped the driver and issued them with a Fixed Charge Notice.

Replying to the Gardaí's post on social media, these Twitter say the penalty for speeding should be more severe, and this Volkswagon Golf driver was a 'lucky boy':
