Morning after pill to be made available to medical card holders over counter

The morning after pill will available for free to medical card holders from July.

Health Minister Simon Harris made the announcement at this morning's Irish Pharmacy Union Conference in Croke Park.

Emergency contraception is already available over the counter.

But until now medical cardholders have needed a prescription to get the drug for free.
