More people will be able to avail of the weekly fuel allowance as part of plans for the budget.

However the introduction of a 30% rate of income tax, for middle income workers is unlikely to happen.

According to the Examiner, the current weekly fuel allowance rate of €33 will increase by €5, and eligibility will be broadened.

While instead of the Tánaiste's plans to introduce a 30% income tax rate, the entry point where people pay higher tax will be raised.
