A mobile cath lab will be ready to treat patients from early October at University Hospital Waterford.
A spokesman said "there are ongoing preparations within UHW for the deployment of the Mobile Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory. The Mobile Cath lab be will be used primarily to reduce waiting lists for patients requiring diagnostic angiogram procedures.
It is expected that the Mobile Cath lab will be operational early October 2017."

The hospital's permanent cath lab will continue to be open from 9 to 5 pm Monday to Friday.
