Met Eireann has issued a three day Status Yellow weather warning for the entire country as Hurricane Gert approaches.
A warning was issued this afternoon which is valid from Sunday morning at 6am until Tuesday at midday.
Met Eireann warns that warm, humid conditions are expected to develop on Sunday which will bring spells of heavy rain and the risk of local flooding.
While details are uncertain at this stage, the conditions are expected to last until the early days of next week.
It is expected that the North West of the country will be worst affected.
A Status Yellow weather advisory is issued to notify those who are at risk because of their location and/or activity, and to allow them to take preventative action.
