Met Éireann has issued a Status Red weather alert for five counties following heavy overnight snow.
The warning, which is the highest alert, has been issued for Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wicklow and Meath.

The forecaster warns that heavy overnight snowfall has led to accumulations of snow between 5 and 10cm. Snow showers will continue to occur during today and again tonight with further accumulations. Total snowfall up to midday Thursday may reach 25cm.
It is in place until Thursday at noon.
Meanwhile, Met Eireann has issued a Status Orange snow-ice Warning for Wexford, Cork and Waterford. They say that heavy snow showers will continue today, tonight and during tomorrow for Wexford, Waterford and south Cork with snow accumulations up to 8cm.

A Low Temperature warning is in place for the entire country until 11am.
A number of flights in Dublin Airport have been cancelled.
Irish Rail confirmed all services will be running on a 30 minute delay.
