A man in his 30s has been rushed to hospital with head injuries following a serious assault in Kilkenny.
The attack occurred at around 7:45 am in the Lord Edward Street area of Kilkenny city.
Paramedics treated the male for a number of lacerations to his head.
An official Garda statement reads: “Gardaí in Kilkenny are investigating an assault that is believed to have occurred on Lord Edward Street, Kilkenny [on] Sunday, 30th January 2022 at approximately 7.45 am."
It continues: “He was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.”
Investigations are ongoing and no arrests have been made at the time of writing.
Those with information are encouraged to come forward to gardaí.
