A man died at a homeless service unit in Dublin last night, the Inner City Helping Homeless have announced.
“My thoughts and prayers are with this person’s family and friends," ICHH CEO Anthony Flynn said in a statement this evening.
"Dublin City Council and the DRHE are just not doing enough when it comes to wrap-around support services for those accessing emergency accommodation.
"A complete re-assessment of homeless services is required, this man’s death has come on foot of the Dublin City Council CEO claiming homelessness is attractive to some," he added, referencing recent comments made by Dublin City Council CEO Owen Keegan.
"Homeless services are in continuous turmoil, we have seen so many deaths in service over the last year, preventable measures must be assessed. How many times was this person checked on through the night? Is there a record? The Minister should request an immediate investigation.‘’
