Gardaí in Waterford are appealing for witnesses following the death of a man in Dunmore East.
It happened at around 3.40am when Gardaí and emergency services were called to an incident at Shanakiel, Dunmore East.
A 25-year-old man was discovered at the scene and treated for an apparent stab wound.
He was removed by Ambulance to University Hospital Waterford where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The scene is currently preserved and the Garda Technical Bureau have been requested by investigators to examine the site.
The local Coroner and Office of the State Pathologist have also been notified.
An incident room has been established at Waterford Garda Station.
A man in his teens (17) has been arrested by Gardaí and is currently detained at Waterford Garda Station.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to contact them.
