A man arrested as part of an investigation into the alleged funding of international terrorism has been remanded in custody after appearing at Waterford district court this morning
Hassan Bal (25), with an address at O’Connell Street in Waterford was arrested in the city yesterday morning.
He's charged with two offences under the Criminal Justice Terrorist Offences Act including providing funding for a foreign terrorist group and attempting to provide funding on a different date.
The charges were placed before him this morning in Waterford Garda Station
The court heard the accused made no reply to either charge.
The man will appear before the district court again next Tuesday.
A woman from the UK, who was also arrested, has since been released without charge.
