Two units of Waterford City fire service are still at the scene after being called to Farran Park housing estate numerous times overnight to bring bonfires under control.
At approximately 7.30am a van was set alight and shortly after Gardai arrested one individual.
He has been taken to Waterford Garda Station.
A local resident, who wished to remain nameless, said one family was engaged in unsociable antics all night and that Gardai had to chase the individual who has been arrested around the fire engines before finally arresting him.

The resident said he couldn’t speak on air as "it would be more hell on earth to try live here."
