A man has been arrested following the discovery of a woman's body in Kilkenny.
The woman was aged in her 70s.
Emergency services were alerted at around 6pm to an incident on Maudlin Street in the city.
A man was arrested in the area a short time later, and he's in Kilkenny Garda Station.

The main remains in Garda custody this morning.
Local Councillor Andrew McGuinness says the close-knit area's in shock this morning.
"It would be an area in Kilkenny where everyone would know each other, the community is very close knit, so this would be a major shock"
