A man has been arrested after barricading himself into an apartment in Dublin.
The man was armed with a large domestic knife and Gardaí say a woman in her 30s was also in the house on Sherrard Street in the city centre.
This incident began at about 12pm today when gardai received reports a man had barricaded himself into the house in Dublin City Centre.
Garda negotiators attended the scene along with the armed support unit.
Just after 4 o'clock, gardai intervened and disarmed the man.
He was arrested and is currently being questioned at Mountjoy Garda Station, where he can be held for up to 24 hours.
The woman wasn't injured during the incident but received medical attention at the scene.
The scene is preserved and gardai are continuing to investigate the incident.
