A man and a woman, both in their 30s, have been arrested in relation to an alleged assault on a nine week old baby girl.
According to the Irish Independent, she suffered serious head injuries at her home in County Louth.
The incident took place on September 13th 2022 where the infant was rushed to hospital after emergency services were contacted.
The infant is currently receiving treatment and is said to be critically ill at Dublin’s Temple Street Children’s Hospital.
The reporter from the Irish Independent continued to say that the couple were arrested yesterday in separate instances and are currently being questioned at Drogheda and Dundalk garda stations.
Members of An Garda Síochána are currently working with child protection agency Tusla as part of the investigation.
