The practice of sulky racing on public roads should be banned, according to a councillor in Thurles.
The issue was debated at a recent sitting of Tipperary County Council in the town.
Cllr David Doran said those involved in sulky racing are “openly and blatantly flouting the law”.
He is calling on the council to take immediate action regarding sulkies in the Clonmel and south Tipp area, calling it a 'brutal and barbaric' practice to the animals involved.
