Light at the end of tunnel for Leaving Cert students

With just days left in the Leaving Cert examinations, students in the South East are encouraged to use their remaining time wisely.

Many students have just one exam left to do, and almost an enitre week to study for it.

However, students are warned not to become complacent, even when those around them are finishing up and starting to celebrate.

Denis Ring, the principle of Blackwater Community School in Lismore, Co. Waterford, has this advice for students:

"You often have students with just one exam left; there's Music and Ag Science coming up, there's Applied Maths on the last day.

"You can look at it as a huge advantage, whereby for this exam you may have four, five and in some cases a full week to prepare.

"That amount of time is massive if it's used productively and you really go to town on the preparation and say 'this is my last exam, I can really work hard on this one'.

"The other way people look at is their friends now are finishing, there's a few parties going on. The school also gets much quieter as they're coming into it and suddenly that week goes by and you find you haven't done an awful lot.

"So really I would be encouraging students to use this block of time as an advantage and get the most out of it."
