A large group of people have turned out in Dungarvan this afternoon to protest the closure of the long stay rehab unit at Dungarvan Hospital.
The community organised event met at Grattan Square in the past hour before marching to the gates of the hospital.
Organisers have stressed that the event is not affiliated to any political party.
Speaking in the Dáil earlier this week, Health Minister Simon Harris stated that closure of the unit is a short-term measure, due to a lack of nursing staff.
Meanwhile, management at Dungarvan Hospital have issued an appeal for any registered nurses available to work full or part time to make contact with them.
