A Kilkenny native has landed the lead role in the film adaptation of Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl series.
Ferdia Shaw saw off over 1,200 youngsters who hoped to be cast in the position.
The role will see the young actor make his feature-film debut.
Shaw will join the likes Judi Dench, Nonso Anozie and Josh Gad on set in early 2018.

The announcement follows news that Kenneth Branagh will direct the film adaptation.
