The British Irish Parliamentary Assembly are meeting in Kilkenny today.
BIPA will hold a series and dicussions and debates on issues relating to the two states.
BREXIT is among the topics expected to be high on the priority list at the summit.
Kilkenny TD John Paul Phelan says the UK's departure from the EU could deeply effect the South East.
He also says that Rosslare Port and the tourism industry will be discussed, along with the issue of South East industries that have already seen the potential threats BREXIT could pose:
"The food industry is the biggest employer in the South Eastern region, and has been for a long time.
"It is one of the two sectors that has been most hit already in terms of fluctuation in the exchange rate between the Euro and the Sterling.
"Obviously, there's a lot of people employed in that industry, in transport and at Rosslare Port itself.
"It's important for everyone across the region that Britain would remain in the common economic area of the European Union, and that could yet happen."
