People can now step inside of the South East's oldest castle for the first time ever.
Johnstown Castle in Co. Wexford has officially opened it's doors for the public to see.
The estate has had visitors for over 850 years walking the grounds, but inside the castle itself has never been opened.
The opening was due to happen in 2019 but was delayed due to the pandemic.
People can now book a guided tour of the gothic venue and grounds along with visiting the Irish Agricultural Museum in the former castle farmyard.
Speaking to Beat News, General Manager Brenda Comford explains more:
"We closed for the minimum that we had to, which was only about six weeks and so, we have all ages coming through. One thing about covid is that people appreciate the outdoors and nature far more than they ever did before.
We have a new state of the art visitor centre which is very extensive and open and airy and it's ventilated, so we're finding that people feel it's safe to come here."
She also added how people can organise a visit;
"Our website is johnstowncastle.ie and you can book a guided tour of the castle online there. When you visit then you can purchase access to the grounds and the museum also or you can book that online either.
We're open seven days a week, last admission at the moment is at half three and we open at 9 in the morning."
