Irish Water Safety is calling on people in the South East to be responsible when it comes to water.
in 10 years, 30 kids have lost their lives due to drowning.
With children on Easter holidays and the Bank Holiday on the way more people will be spending time by waterways
Roger Sweeney is Deputy CEO of IWS, he said:
"Of course, there's the importance of supervision, and by supervision, I mean that parents and guardians should constantly, without interruption, supervise the children if you're near water.
Children are naturally curious about water and they're particularly at risk and need this constant uninterrupted supervision because water can be so dangerous.
Equally, we have some of the most beautiful waterways in the world but at the same time they do present this threat so it's particularly important to supervise the kids"
