The Creeslough Community Support Fund has now reached just over one million Euro in five days.
The fund, which was set up by the Irish Red Cross, is being supported by An Post and Applegreen. A number of other corporate companies have donated online and in many post offices as well as shops around the country.
All donations to the fund will be dedicated to the support of those who have been bereaved, injured, made homeless, or left without an income as a result of the tragedy.
Charlie Lamson in the Irish Red Cross said: “The Irish public and the business world here have been just incredible with their thoughtfulness for the Creeslough community. At this stage our Irish Red Cross Donegal area volunteers are in touch with people in the Creeslough locality and they are in the process of identifying a process for the funding distribution which is appropriate and informed by the local community.”
A minute's silence was held in Creeslough on Friday afternoon at 3.18pm, to mark seven days since the tragedy and to remember the 10 people who lost their lives in the explosion.
The funeral for the last two victims took place today (Saturday). Five-year-old Shauna Flanagan Garwe and her Dad Robert Garwe were buying a cake for Mum Áine's birthday, when the tragedy occurred.
They were remembered 'Side by side in their last moments, and now side by side in heaven' by Fr. John Joe Duffy.
