An Irish pensioner has died following a violent stabbing at a popular Spanish holiday resort.
The incident occurred in Benidorm yesterday morning at 10:30 am, Thursday, November 17th.
The pensioner is understood to have been involved in an altercation on the upper floor of a property he shared with the attacker.
Despite being revived at the scene of the incident, the 68-year-old Irish man passed away sometime later at Marina Baixa Hospital.
The assailant, a 62-year-old British citizen, also suffered stab wounds during the altercation. He has already been arrested by Spanish police on suspicion of attempted homicide.
Neither individual has been named at this point.
Investigations are ongoing.
